A practical starting point

Service teams receive questions about orders, returns, service levels and urgent complaints. A controlled assistant could categorize requests and draft replies only from an approved knowledge base, showing which source supports each proposed response. A pilot should escalate refunds, disputes and safety reports to a person. Evaluate accuracy, unnecessary escalations and corrected drafts rather than optimizing response speed alone.

Controls before automation

Start with a bounded workflow, documented inputs and a named process owner. An AI-generated suggestion should not silently become a binding decision or external communication. Define role-based access, review thresholds, exception handling and a clear way to stop or correct an automated step. Keep the original information available for human verification.

How to evaluate a pilot

Measure incorrect classifications, manual corrections and actual time saved. Expand permissions only after quality and security checks, and assess the applicable sector and privacy rules.
